(NOTE TO MODS: I am not going to explain or post any pics of what goes into making a post sample PS90, just need to know the precedent of what other SOT's have done)

I have a PS90 in the shop, and am going to get a full auto trigger pack and to the work to make it a post sample for some R&D.

Have any SOT's registered the trigger pack as the MG, or has everyone just registered the PS90 receiver as the MG and the trigger pack is just "married" to it at that point?

If you have done this you will understand why I am asking. I will not post info or details on the why/how.

Modifying the receiver to accept an unmodified pack? Register the receiver.

Modifying the pack to fit an unmodified receiver? Register the pack

That is my normal take on it, but as we all know the ATF can be...illogical...on some of these finicky things.

Just wanted to confirm someone else had done this and it has been approved. If not, guess I will get to be the guinea pig(?)

Register the conversion device. We 3D printed and registered our PS90 “auto connectors” to use in gen1/gen2 hammer pack with the requisite select-fire safety drum.

ATF isn’t going to deny a f2.

The easiest conversion is to buy a FA hammer pack. Seconded by making the SA hammer pack FA by swapping some parts. Modifying the receiver requires a FA stock. FA parts kits aren’t exactly inexpensive.

I would personally not convert the factory receiver, because it forever removes it from ownership by non-SOT/gov/LE. One day the PS90 won’t be imported any longer, will be worth big money like pre-89 HKs, SIG 55x, FNCs, FAMAS, etc. And you’ll likely wish you could keep it if you give up your SOT, or wish you could sell it to a regular collector on the commercial market.

We have one of each. No right or wrong way between the pack and the receiver. Personal preference and what you have to work with.

No problem with registering just the pack. Just name, city, state, and serial number.

FFL's Only forum has a helpful SOT section that goes into a bit more detail than this site will allow.

I actually already registered the pack and got it approved, so all go to go.

That's what we did, bought the FA hammer pack and FA selector, modified the receiver to accept the FA pack (literally 10 seconds to modify and install), installed the FA selector and done.

All you need is a selector and a couple spacers.
