Son picked up a 410 shockwave. He has some 410 ammo. And just picked up 410 bore, whats the difference in this ammo and the 410 gauge?

And please tell me its safe to shoot out of his 410 shockwave.

410 gauge/bore are the exact same thing. He good to go with either label.

"410 gauge" is really a misnomer but it is used and accepted to describe  .410 bore shotguns.

No such thing as a 410 gauge.

A .410 bore is roughly a 67 gauge.

People that don't know what gauge means call .410 bore shotguns a 410 gauge.

just a refresher course... gauge refers to the number of lead balls of barrel bore diameter that weigh a pound, eg since a 12 gauge is larger diameter it takes 12 balls for a pound, a 20 gauge with smaller diameter takes 20

bore is in inches... 410 bore is .410"

Probably can’t find any right now but there’s defensive 410 rounds that work well. Shockwaves are pretty popular right now.

I can't even find 410 birdshot or target loads locally - Multiple Walmart's, Academy, dozens of shops - ammo all gone.  Initially 12 and 20 gauge was still on shelves -  then went dry and not restocked .  Seems like it has been dry for a while now.  I suspect 410 ammo not being as popular as other is close to last for priorities.

My stash is hitting a point where I will soon be on hold for more recreational shooting
