Yes, the thing is an absolute hoot to shoot!
I had one once upon a time but had nowhere to shoot it when I moved to Waycross (no backstop hills) so I sold it.

You are correct though, it's a hoot to shoot.  I learned to have my mouth open when I fired to equalize the pressure.

I that an Ishapore 7.62 NATO up top or a Brit .303?

double tap.  Board is acting weird.

triple tap.  Seems that board is bouncing in and out of service or suffering a denial of service attack.

Ishapore 7.62 NATO.  I really need to get it cleaned up.   From the pictures I’ve seen on the Internet, they don’t look half bad with all the cosmoline and paint stripped off of them.

These are some of my favorite photos with me and my M1A. My wife and friends all pitched in and got this for me for my 50th birthday last year. It's a Springfield M1A with NM barrel and walnut stock.

Everyone enjoyed putting rounds through it, especially me, because I got to take it home.

And of course, as it laid in its box when it was given to me.

I bought a VX-2 for it last year and mounted it. I need to take it to the range to get it sighted in.

I recently got my first M1-- a Field Grade from CMP. Very quick turnaround time from them, I had it at my door withing about a week of sending in my order form.
The parkerization is almost completely worn off, and it gauged 3 on both the throat and muzzle. It's a HRA 1953 receiver with a SA 1947 barrel and originally came with a hackberry stock, but I quickly replaced it with an SA walnut stock.

I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet but I can't wait to try it out

Ordered a Service Grade/Springfield Armory Garand from the CMP last week.  I am very pleased with the condition, as well as the new CMP stock. Plans are to shoot a 3 gun match or two a year with it, might even deer hunt with it on a sunny day.

This lil guy snuck into work when I wasn’t there, he promptly found a forever home (sadly not with me)

Winchester Reciever
Springfield barrel and Op rod
Not a USGI stock.

Love my winchester Garand.  What's the deal with the end of the barrel?  The gas cylinder isn't flush with the stock, and the muzzle looks goofy.

I always thought it would be neat to have 1 of each manufacture. The U.S. Garand's were easy, but the Beretta took some creative research to find all the correct parts.

Mine is a liberty Mystic X which technically is a 9 millimeter suppressor but it has been certified by Liberty for like 62 different calibers one of them being 308.

When I'm not using the suppressor I'm running a AAC three prong flash suppressor on a Delta P designs threaded muzzle adapter.

I will eventually get a different suppressor for the M1A Socom. Probably a Yankee Hill resonator

I’m running a Surefire SOCOM 762-RC using the Surefire M14 flash hider mount.

I’ve got to get an alignment rod to fix the mount.  My rounds were way off and after checking the rounds were just kissing the endcap.  No damage, just some marks.  The shims Surefire sends with the mounts are very small and fit between the mount and muzzle.  I’m assuming I must have had a little buildup I missed when I mounted it.  I haven’t gotten around to pulling the mount off and fixing it yet.

As far as operation, the rifle has a NM spring guide and a NM TiN piston.  Otherwise stock.  It’s a stainless loaded.  The rifle ran beautifully and recoil was soft.  That’s important to me as I’ve had heart surgery.  I just can’t handle recoil anymore.  First time shooting with the can was that outing.  Hadn’t gotten it out of the safe for three years due to the surgery.

I have a Thunderbeast Arms on what is either a Smith Ent or Delta P adapter.
I have an 18” Barrel on mine and like the over balance considering it is an M1A.

Here's mine.  I really know very little about it.  A friend that knows Garands bought 2 from the CMP and I bought this one from him.  We got them about 15 years or so ago.  I know the wood was bad so we ordered new stocks.  He told me what the muzzle and throat measurements were but at the time I really didn't understand what it meant.  HE also went thru it and cleaned it up.  I have less than $500 tied up in it, including the cost of the stock.  I probably haven't shot more than a couple of hundred rounds thru it since I've had it.  It's fun to take to the range a time or 2 a year and run a clip or 2 thru it.  The SN dates it to May '44.
