Dixie Gun Works sells the Pedersoli version for around $1500. I am getting the bug to buy a smooth bore. I have experience with ML rifles and cap and ball revolvers. Is there a better place to buy one of these. How do these compare side by side with the originals? I want to buy a faithful replica.

There several several variations of Brown Bess.  Few place make them.  Pedersoli is the better quality but you pay for it.  Try shopping Gun Broker, checking it regularly.
