So I purchased a panzerfaust tube from the gentleman(very helpful and insightful) on the other RPG thread. Should arrive soon, I’ll post pictures of the tube. Im still working on gathering information regarding the project and came across the panzerfaust 44. I was thinking about making my panzerfaust like the 44 instead of the 60. The optic are available on some sites and tube is a similar size. I’d be doing the rockets the Similar to the RPG -2 in the other thread. I like the 44 as it’s pretty compact and would be more usable over the originals.

I had a question regarding NFA law, if I use a similar 22lr spotter that’s permanently attached to tube, does it require a second stamp (SBR) or is it considered apart of the registered DD?

(Pictures stolen from google)

Edit I think that might be the ignition system instead of a spotter gun

Regarding the trigger ignition unit, the following is quoted from https://military.wikia.org/wiki/Panzerfaust_44

At the bottom, it has a trigger unit with shoulder rest, and the front grip. trigger unit is somewhat unusual as it uses special ignition cartridges, loaded into box magazine, to ignite launching charge in the barrel through the hole in the barrel wall.

This looks like an awesome project. BTW, what parts are you using from the RPG?

I’m using the trigger group and firing pin assembly from the rpg 7 because the 44 firing system was not  easy without better drawings  and not as safe to remake without seeing one in person

The top of the warhead is removable so I’m thinking I might be able to fill it with chalk/plastic cone and use them as reusable chalk rounds.

Does anyone know where I can get the same chalk as the 40mm shall rounds ?

You can use chalk line chalk from home improvement stores or I buy bags of the "color run" chalk that they use to throw in the air.  I load 40mm rounds with it in whatever color I want

Errr, it's metal, it's not going to break open when it hits.  It will bend though, so it probably won't work twice. Also, that will be the worlds most expensive practice round.

Should have clarified better, the top portion comes out, so I was going to have a bunch of 3D printed cones made that will break on impact and hopefully spare the metal rear portion a lot of damage.

Took all my parts to local gunsmith and figured out how to go about building everything. Got quoted 4-5 weeks for some custom parts finished then I’ll finish the drilling

If you don't have anyone to do the 3d printing,  I'd be glad to try it out.  Just need all the dimensions and whatnot.  Could even do it with supports on the inside to keep it from popping on launch.

Update: For the past 3 months, my local shop is saying they are working on my trigger parts but still waiting for them to start.

In the meantime, I still plan on testing the tube. I’m going to rig up the launching charges with a fuse wire and launch a few warheads remotely as soon as I can source goex black powder. Here are my launch tubes, I’m going to fill with sectioned chambers totaling 3.98 ounces of black powder. I’m still debating if I should run the fuse to the front of the tube or just have it run to the rear of the tube. I have access to a drone and getting hopefully slow-mo footage of the launch as well

I’ve been thinking about doing mini 3d printed warhead filled with cement or something using a fraction of the black powder to launch and using a fuse to launch those. I’ll play with CAD to try out a design
