It's more money but if budget allows consider the new Phokus Hoplite Gen 2. It is a flip cap refocus device with an adjustable aperture and has a sacrificial lens. We just added them to our site if you want to see the pictures etc. |

The 07 is a tight fit, but after a few seconds in the micro to heat it up (don't get crazy here; maybe 10-15 seconds), it will slide right on and settle in. Even without heat, it will go on and after awhile it will stretch to size.
BTW, a 1/4" punch makes a perfect re-focus ring. Or heated 5.56 brass, which is almost too cool to pass up. I ran these for years and they worked very well. The only reason I don't anymore is because I switched to adjustable re-focus rings instead. |

Something I should mention about the Hoplite Gen 2...
Butler Creeks were the lower cost alternative to the gen 1 Hoplite with the main difference that the Hoplite has a sacrificial lens. Although the gen 1 had different apertures they were inserts and kind of a PITA to use. It also did not have a "closed" aperture. I'm a huge advocate of using solid lens caps / bikini covers to safeguard your tubes when not in use from accidental light damage so what I personally don't like with hole punched caps or bikini covers is that the size hole to be effective for refocusing can allow for possible light damage to occur. The new Hoplite gen 2 has multiple apertures including a closed aperture (no hole) so you can easily switch between with the hole being "closed" and 4 different aperture sizes. This and the sacrificial lens make it a great refocus device to consider. |
