Also it fundamentally bothers me how they extended the rear of the receiver so much to make it non nfa for their 14.5 p&w crap and released this 'Cuckpup' rifle. They should have made the length with a spacer that could be removed so if you had a longer barrel or SBR it, you could get rid of that dead space. Or even do an adjustable stock like we see on the Hellion. I'm sure it's just easier to make them that way. How much room you think is wasted? I too would like to see a purpose built shorty. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/129950/Olcan_Lower_jpg-3676069.JPG https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/129950/Olcan_jpg-3676070.JPG You can shave about 1" off the length by shortening the receiver design for dedicated "NFA receiver" if you keep the buttpad. Sven Manticore Arms Sounds like a great project for a clever bullpup guy |

Sven Manticore Arms You could shoot left handed. However, it would be an emergency or having the rifle a bit foward or head move backwards to avoid the brass. I was asked at Battlefield Vegas before I shot the L86. Left or right handed. I told the clerk that I am ambidextrous but I know about the problems of having facial restruction surgery. Bloke on the Range did a video of using his L85 in unusual shooting positions and the explanation of performing those odd stances. |

You can modify either the barrel or barrel nut and fit any AR barrel into those uppers. They also make a 'diy' version of their uppers that can use any barrel without modification, but it looks to me like the rail isnt nearly as rigid for holding 0 with optics. I think the ARTB/FM would be a good 2lbs lighter than the Olcan with similar barrel profiles. |

Not to have this wander off the Olcan discussion which was the point of this thread, but I don't think you are ever going to see factory offered bullpups in more than the most common calibers- 5.56, 300 blackout, maybe 9mm, as your Venn Diagram of the small subset of potential bullpup purchasers crossed with those who want anything but the most commonly adopted calibers is exceedingly small. The best hope is a ground up bullpup that uses AR-15 barrels and bolts so then end use can easily swap the barrels to their preferred caliber. Sven Manticore Arms |

Sven Manticore Arms I was hoping Senex Arms could get his to market, but it’s been over a year of radio silence. Gonna guess it flunked. :/ |

There are a lot of guns out there that I think could benefit from just a little factory support. Something as simple as barrel extensions could jump start a decent amount of aftermarket. Guns like the Sig MCX(and 556 prior) and the Ruger SFAR. Cough up some parts so people can make their own and grow the platform. At manufacturer level it just seems like most guns that are chambered in 223/556 and take AR mags aren't that far away from alternate calibers. |

Best bet for a non-AR-15 bullpup chambered in whatever caliber you want is the WLVRN, as they sell barrel kits (assuming extension, gas block, specs and that) so you can make your own custom barrel. I made a 20" heavy SS 223 Wylde barrel for mine (albeit I just used a spare barrel I had, before they offered this kit) and have had good accuracy with it getting 1 moa 5 round groups with match ammo. Eventually I'll get around to doing a heavy profile 6.5 creedmoor barrel, unless they beat me to it. I know Coldbore has a WLVRN chambered in 6mm ARC Of course the WLVRN has its own set of issues you may have to wade thru. |

I don't want to wonder too far off topic, but even if you can get a barrel build kit from DT, how do you deal with getting a custom bolt made? |

That's expensive enough it would have to everything I want. It is nice that they offer conversions. |

You would just either use a 5.56 bolt or 7.62 bolt. On Coldbore's 6 ARC they just opened the bolt face up. Which if you're tuning a custom barrel you should be able to do the bolt face as well. |
