So I went to look at a Spreewerk P38 this morning, at a lgs. It was an N block and a very nice pistol, just overpriced. Odd thing was, that when I took the barrel and slide off,the ejector stayed up, like on a P1. It wasn't sticky, it was loaded and had to hold it down,to get the slide back on. I've never seen this on a wartime pistol. It wasn't messed with, it was 100% CYQ P38. Anyone have any insight on this?

No. What I am pretty sure happened was, at some point in time, the ejector broke and someone replaced it with a P1 spring loaded ejector. That feature wasn't around till the 50's
