As soon as I can get my hands on a brake this will get assembled. Then I finally get to have a conjugal visit with my AEM5.

Brakes are in stock at Adco

In other news, picked up my AEM5 from the dealer last week. 5 months from check cashed to can in hand

and thanks to Ron spinning up a custom collar for me, it found a second home on a shorty upper.

Allen Engineering AEM5 on a 12.5 "firearm".

Im freaking loving this 12.5 "firearm" setup.  Once the light bulb in my head went off that the A5 extension and 12.5 bbl length puts me over 26 inches into that "firearm" category to run a vert grip I threw one on there.  Can't wait till I'm able to shoot it away from the public range where its jailed at the moment to really appreciate how good this can sounds.

Ron, to your knowledge, were there at some point cans built after the 3rd model (but before the 12th model i suppose) that indexed further back on the barrel than the 12th?

Yep, ALG Rail. AEM5 fits inside.......after some strategic application of the dremel.

Anyone here taken a factory KAC upper such as a LPR or 16" Mod 2 and had it reprofiled to OPS contour for an AEM5?

I figured i'd seen something like that. Were these made for the 16" recce rifles that inspired the SPR programme?

Nice setup!

Yeah, I actually called into the suppressor sales person and they looked around back and found one. This was after they were discontinued.

I'm planning on doing either an 11.5 carbine+1 with the Black River Tactical barrel, or a 12.5" middy with a Triarc barrel using my old Ops Inc 15th model (like an AEM3).

At risk of not doing enough homework, i'm looking for a mount solution that i have yet to be able to find.

I have a criterion 308 barrel with a straight .740 dia. with no step down and i would like a similar collar and mount solution to the aem5 m14 mount (see post 13 on page 1 of this thread by Homeinvader for pic).

I would like a two part solution that fully sleeves over the barrel without adding anymore length than necessary and has a brake mount with standard outer thread pitch for the aem5, but an internal thread pitch of 5/8x24.

I'm also interested in a custom brake design that looks like an M110 flash hider, but is a brake rather than an open ended design.

Does someone know where such a beast can be found, or who mught be able to manufacture said system (as well as cost)

I've found a single piece version on spikes website, but i dislike their brake design.

Any help?

Is it as impressive as the AEM5 is on a MK12? How do you rank it next to other 30 cal cans?

I haven't put it on a meter but it has the same tone as my 5.56 cans. To my ear, they are both more pleasant than the other cans I've used (aac, surefire).  Also, with the obr I dont get much back pressure and gas in the face which is similar to the m5.  Other cans on an ar platform i always feel like I'm getting blasted with gas.

Has anyone looked at the possibility of mounting an AEM 5 or OPS 12 or 3rd for that matter on the new Sig Cross?  I've got one coming and figure the barrel will need profiled but I'm wondering about clearance issues under the handguard.

I don’t.  However, you won’t get any AE can under the handguard of a Cross.  You’d have to cut back the handguard (or wait for shorter options to eventually be released).

I spoke with Ryan, and he said that Allen is making a Gothic Serphent suppressor for them as well.  Not sure on ETA.

no offense, but that is a rather tall request.  Why?

First part, I would suggest having the barrel removed and profiled from the muzzle to the step.  This is crucial for proper support of an AEM5 can.  As far as chaning the brake design, I think that is a bit complex, and I have heard from folks who have spoken with Ron that one of the major causes of can faliure is the use of third party brakes and collars.  His design is simple in theory, and complex in execution, as the tollerances have to be met.

I know everyone has a problem tine to time.  They have been good to me.  I know they do some Mk12 work and quite a bit with Allen products.  Looks like they have recovered.  We all could give our grievances of any supplier.  Online reviews from customers seem good as well.  I have had my share of issues with 6 or 8 gun dealers, gunsmiths, etc.  there are always two sides to any story, and while we can take our grips public, most reputable merchants dont’t air their side of the story.  Maybe except Mark LaRue.  He gives every customer shit.  🤣

I like to take the high road.  Looks like they are sponsors here too.  We have enough crap from anti gun Biden camp.  I lost my job three months ago to COVID and China imports.  I am learning from others how tough it is to run a small business.  Not for me.  My unemployment allows me time to run my mouth.

I was on another forum listing to how awful this armorer is and another about another crappy guy.  Both are mentioned in this forum with glowing comments.  I rather look at the good experiences in gun industry.

I hope @CMCctx , that all is going well with you now.
