I've only shot my Omega with the anchored brake, but I'm thinking of going flat cap to shorten it up. I use it on a .308 for deer as well as on 5.56 AR's.

Would there be a large sound level difference in 5.56 suppression between a 7.62 and 5.56 caps? It'd be nice to try to trade one for one and just run the 7.62 cap only...

The 5.56 cap sounds audibly better on a Hybrid.  On an Omega on 5.56 I just run the .30 flat front cap all the time.  You might hear the difference on 5.56 on an omega with gas block tuning, but the .30 front cap is the more useful of the two. Hansohn Brothers has a titanium front cap, but the 7.62 may be out of stock.

Are you comparing the 5.56 end cap to the .30 end cap on the Hybrid, or the .46 end cap?  I picked up a .30 cal anchor brake for my Hybrid, but havent bought a 5.56 end cap yet.

To a couple of guys standing around (and the shooter),  on a 16" 5.56 the Omega sounded best with the anchor brake,  followed by the .30 flat cap,  with the 5.56 flat cap sounding the worst. It sounded "sharper" if that makes sense.

Does the anchor brake relieve back pressure at all?

I run a .30cal end cap all the time so I don't make a costly mistake. Sound attenuation is good.

On a Hybrid going from a .46 front cap to a 5.56 cap is a noticeable improvement.  Going from a .46 to a .30 is where some people think it sounds better, others can’t tell a difference so much.   That’s on 5.56.  Most of the time I leave the .46 front cap on the Hybrid and use it on 308, 6.5CM, 9mm, some 300 Blackout.  I once forgot the 30 flat cap was on and ran it on a 3-lug subgun full auto.  Fortunately that .30 cap is close to 9mm and the fit was tight and concentric.  Point being, I barely use the 5.56 front cap.

On the Omega the 5.56 front cap I can’t really tell a difference as the shooter and most observers like the tone of the 30 cap better.
