Since it's all digital, you won't have the old issue of it getting snail mailed to your old address. So once you get the approval email, if your move was within the same state then really you don't have to do anything. If it was to a different state, then you'd have to do the interstate move form pretty much immediately to stay compliant there. |
| I went through my local congress critters office to see if they can help. They already got a response from the atf on just needing one more authoritarian which I've now signed and sent back so fingers crossed this helps. |

Now if they also did something like designate 2 of those examiners to only do VA forms for a while to fast track those, then once they finished they would go back to doing regular forms, but the forms they get are now the newest ones coming in the main queue and they don't have the backlog the other examiners do because they were cleared out to just do those VA ones. Something like that could happen, and would result in the sudden shift and wide range for approval times. The only thing consistent about how NFA branch processes forms is that they are always inconsistent.

I just got done waiting for 3 SBR qpprovals. My first batch approvals. Started on May 1, 26 Approved on July 20, 26 80/81 days approval time. I was surprised that it was released at mid afternoon. My other ATFE paperworks were sent to me normally shown a delivery time at 600 am. |

Just did 2 Form 1s: Submitted: 5/20, Approved 7/21 Submitted: 6/14, Approved 7/24 I guess folks are getting back from their summer break....? Next fun one is the new digital Form 4, in state person-to-person. I'm picking up a subgun from a neighbor, so we'll see how that goes. I heard they are getting approved fairly quickly, around 1-2 weeks. Anyone with experience on that? |

Individual eForm 1 used eft for fingerprints SBS of JTS 870 clone with a 14" barrel Submitted 07/20/2026 Approved 08/07/2026 submitted the evening of 7/20 & arrived to my inbox on 8/7 at 7:19 CDST 14 working days, definitely better than the 14 months for my first SBR. Now, just waiting on that appeal process time to expire to remove all this stupidity.

I submitted several dozen form 4's between August 13 and August 15 to move all my NFA to a trust. Two came from me personally and all the rest were from my LLC. All were approved between 8/19 and 8/31. One day I had just one approval, and a couple days I had eight. I don't think they're working a first-in/first out queue because there was no correlation between the day they were submitted (or anything else I could see), and the day they were approved . It's more like your form submission goes into a big virtual tumbler and when an examiner is ready to approve a form they reach in and pull one out. Maybe you get lucky and they pull out your just-submitted form, or maybe you're unlucky and your form floats around in there way longer than it should before it gets pulled out. |

I think you nailed it. This is the most logical explanation of the process that I've ever heard. |

Here's one for the record books. I am buying a subgun from one of my neighbors, so we can do the Form 4 Individual transfer and not use an FFL. We submitted the online Form 4 on Sunday afternoon (Sept 13), I received the approval e-mail this morning at about 8:48am Eastern. So, not even 2 business days. |
