Couldn't find much northern lights footage online through nvg's, so here is a small contribution.

That's pretty cool, I wonder how far south they could be seen if you had one of those uber high spec astronomy unfilmed units.

You wouldn't see them further south with unfilmed

maybe only 10 -30% brighter but at the same location, check out comparisons between Harder Digital (Katod core) and L3 unfilmed.
My tube is Autogain, and northern lights were so bright that the gain goes down while looking at it which would probably happen with most tubes.

I thought KATOD and EKRAN are/were one in the same and all made in Novosibirsk - or share the same staff and people?? - they certainly have the same post code

I wonder about that too, but the rumour is that Harder Digital buys Katod tube core's and makes their own powersupply. I believe Ekran only produces Gen 2 + tubes, Katod sells Thin Film 3rd Gen on par with omni 6/7. Only their marketing is sketchy as hell when it comes to selling them to EU and Canadian market, its all under other brand names, i believe it is due to some trade embargo loophole.

You should look around the EU before buying from that store - you will find savings of ~ 50%.

Correct, it took about two weeks until it was at the mail office. I got the GA-1 version for 47.000kr which from the specs it came with was worth it for me.
Remember the FOM won't tell you anything about how bright your tube becomes, so you might get a GA-2 with lower spectral sensitivty or even radiant sensitivity than a GA-1.
The FOM marketing you see from most companies on this side of the river. Compared to the cost of a 4g photonis that will be on the same level for 80.000kr its all expensive.

Please provide links, they all seem to go for the same price. Echo tube is definetely cheaper than 3rd gen Katod, but for me that drives a boat with it at night
the low light sensitivity of the Katod provides more than enough. Im curious about the new chinese gen 2+ tubes that go for 1000 bucks https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/37-31MM-Image-Intensifier-tube-for_62294623513.html

Yes, I have been scouring google and reddit for info about the photonis or GSCI in general, but the information is very limited.

I got the ECW version for 53.000kr, but got a nice discount of 3500 though.
But two weeks? I’m on my third week and still no tracking number. Spyshop confirmed it was around 10-14 days.
But have gotten alot of information both prior and after the purchase was made.

Dont have any doubts about the GSCI housing, if you got the PVS-14C, my brother lost mine a 7 meters of depth for 2 hours until a diver could come, still going. It's a composite/aluminium(eyepiece) housing, probably made in china or eastern europe but still does its job.
Unfortunately/Fortunately its the only option we have at the moment except for Act in Black which is all plastics/composites, not saying that's bad but I do like a cold touch on expensive gear.

I have a EPM-101-GSH-01-11R1S3 WP F series
Did your tube come with a spec sheet , because mine did
Oh and btw, I think ekran now has gen3 too at least I saw one for sale lol maybe I can find some pictures

I was in Roanoke, Virginia on May 8-9, 2021 and saw the satellites fly over and got some still image photos with my iPhone.
