Pretty neat.  The armor obviously has no advantage over soft body armor aside from the extremely low cost and maybe backface deformation, but there could be many applications, such as armoring a vehicle or walls.  Not bad for armor on the cheap.

Fiberglass Doron was one of the earliest materials used in armor. Super early US fragmentation vests were made with many little squares of the stuff.

Same as some Kevlar is suitable for anti ballistic use and others aren't. The actual weaving also matters a lot, pick count and yarn size.
