My 20+ year old Lyman Turbo 600 tumbler finally died on me for good. It has suited my needs fine and I would replace it with an identical model if they are still making them at the same quality level.

Are Lyman tumblers still good to go? Is there a better option with good quality at a similar price point? I don't reload enough to justify a larger or more premium setup and have no interest in wet tumbling.

The only tumbler I have not been able to kill is the Dillon.

Get a Dillon CV 750
I have an older version that does not have the same motor and current production and is 18 yrs old.  Still works great as does it cousin the CV 750.
I will admit to stepping the cord and ruining the inline switch.  But a trip to Hardware Store fixed that!

Per Dillon
The electrical/electronic components of the CV-750 are covered by a 5 year warranty from date of purchase.

My Lyman lasted for 20 years. Is the CV-750 at twice the price better than a Lyman 1200?

I don't process enough brass to justify the cost and effort. I shoot on my own range so my brass does not get that dirty and I haven't taken in any outside brass in years. I'm perfectly happy with dry walnut media and citric acid baths to get my brass looking factory new.

I have a Lyman 2500 Pro Magnum purchased circa 2008 and a Thumler's UV-10 of unknown age since I got it used at an estate sale.  Both work great and haven't given me any issues.

The Thumler's has an inline rotary switch which is a feature I like.  The Lyman turns on and off by plugging it in and unplugging it, which isn't as convenient.

Another Dillon 750. About 15 years old and I have to say its quiet. I would love to compare it to a Thumbler.

Hi-tech ammo used a small concrete mixer to Tumblr their pull down military brass. If you could find one used that worked it would probably last a lifetime.

LOL, I thought man that's an old tumbler, then I realized I bought mine in the spring of 2000.  It's a Lyman Turbo 1200 & still working fine.  Now I'm worried this is going to jinx me.!

I have a Dillon FL2000, from the ‘90’s still works. Anyone know what FL in the model number means?

Tried troubleshooting it , is the motor burnt up or a wire shaken off, bad switch?  Maybe lyman will sell you a motor (I thank its a whole new base).  Dont know what a lyman 20 year old tumbler looks like but if its like most things its probably better built than any of the newer models.

One of the wires to the motor burned off. It is at an area of the motor that is sealed, so no easy way to re-attach it. I looked at the Lyman parts  diagram and it does not look like they sell internal parts like motor assemblies.

25 years with my Dillon CV-500 and 13 years for my Turbo 1200 in lighter duty.

I've got Frankford Arsenal (16 years) and Lyman 1200 (20+ years) tumblers that are still going strong.
I had to replace the bowl on the FA tumbler due to a dumb-ass (me ) dropping the tumbler and cracking the bowl.

My FA tumber died and I've replaced it with this monster sized 18lb vibratory tumbler as I don't have the time to add wet tumbling into my process.

I've had my lyman pro 1200  for 10 years and the orange monster is still kicking ass.

i purchased a new lyman 2500 this year.

The bowl is really cheap now compared to the one i had late 80's early 90's....If you do by another one save the bowl...

I also have the wet cyclone my wife brought me for my birthday..

Both work..

In the last month, I have replaced the motors in both my tumblers. One is 2004 dated Frankford and the other, a Lyman, had a 1997 date decal. I used the same $24 bath fan replacement motor for both. It's unlikely the new motors will last as long as the originals, but for less than the cost of a new tumbler I got both of my old clunkers up and running again.

Were you able to use the existing weight and propeller?

yeah, on the Frankford the new motor shaft was the exact size of the original, so I just moved over the weight and fan. The Lyman motor had a larger shaft so I had to use the replacement fan that came with the new motor, but the set-screw on the weight was able to tighten up on the replacement motor shaft with no issues.

Glad I did. I'm a brass ratt and they make me giggle at the results.
