Found an old Marlin rimfire at a local pawn shop, and I'm currently refinishing the stock.

I used citristrip to get the finish off of it, and I uncovered some mold on the shoulder-end of the stock.  I don't want to sand it off, because that will change the contour of the stock.

Will some bleach/water take care of this. Internet search has mixed ideas on this topic (for figure).

There's also some residual stain left on there, what's a good technique for getting that off as well.
