I have an 11.5" and just built another 10.3 upper with the crane spec .070" gas port. All suppressed.

I'm sorting through what is the best combination for the 10.3 barrel suppressed. I have used sprinco blue w/H2 buffer on some of my SBRs.

Although I do have an 11.5 that runs like a sewing machine with a Bootleg BCG. For my 10.3 fighting gun, I do not want to use an adjustable BCG or gas block. I'm thinking H3 with a blue sprinco?

What combination do you use for a 10.3" suppressed barrel to soften things up, eject brass at around 3 o'clock and still remain reliable?

I run the Geiselle spring setup with H3 buffer in my 10.3" UNSUPRESSED. No issues. Lots of rounds downrange with this setup. I don't own a suppressor because I'm stuck in Illinois at the moment.

When I had a .070 gas port 10.3" barrel, my YHM Turbo T2 wasn't our of jail yet, but it ran great with a Geissele Super 42 w/H3 and 5.56 ammo. That gun now has a 10.3" Geissele barrel with .063 gas port and same buffer setup. Runs great suppressed and I can drop to a standard carbine buffer and spring with 5.56 ammo for unsuppressed shooting if needed.

Mine will not lock back with .223 with H2 or H3 and Super42 spring unsuppressed.

I switched to a direct thread can and went to a BRT tube with a .0595 gas. It is perfect with .223 and 5.56.

I wish I would have stayed with Sprinco blue.

I ended up shooting it without the suppressor with my hand loads (25gr. H335) H2 buffer w/ standard spring. This combination did not function IIRC was a single shot. - then same combination with can was throwing brass 3:30-4 o'clock, running great.

I'm going to try to get this running both suppressed and unsupressed. And will experiment more with buffer spring combinations.

Eta. The barrel is a 10.3 (.070 gas port) PA brand Expo Arms, I don't know who makes the barrel.

BTW appears to be a very accurate barrel.

I should add that I only shoot 5.56. My 10.3 with H3 has never failed to function. I forgot about .223. I didn't think anyone still shot it. I remember 20 years ago when coming by 5.56 was harder and getting good function with .223 was more of a concern since either was often all you could get.

I had a bunch of 55gr FMJ over 24.5gr of H335 that I got rid of because it was too light.

The .223 I am referring to is Gold Dot, Federal TRU BONDED, and blue box PPU 75s.
It all cycles perfectly, it just won't lock the bolt back.

I have that 11.5" expo barrel and a reduced gas port vent screw in the gas block at .050. I am using a banish 223 suppressor, flat wire spring and H1 buffer. Just shot it today and was getting about 3 oclock ejection with an H buffer so bumped it up just a smidge to H1. 100% suppressed with my home rolled ammo.
