Would numbers stamped on the right side of a 98k be from a post war rebuild or some sort of unit marking? Number is 24G1XX if it matters.

Pics would help.

Are these numbers under an eagle marking?  If so, those are acceptance codes for the maker of the weapon, IIRC.

Need a pic if you can.
