I am thinking of developing a durable and less brittle hobby knife blade, x-acto.
What metals would be suitable for that? I would like a blade that is .5mm thick, I know it's quite thin, not a lot of material to work with.
So the aim would be to get a blade that is strong enough and won't snap.
Also, x-acto blades are quite affordable, others can be 50 times more expensive, so I would take price into consideration as well.
What are your suggestions for the blade metal?

Thank you so much

If you gonna proceed with this, then try some high carbon steel (1095 or analogues like LAW 100 X by Carpenter). They will give the blade the hardness and strength needed to hold up against impact and wear.
