I've never had a lever action rifle and think it's about time to change that.  I like the look of this Marlin 336BL with the 18.5" barrel.  What is the general consensus on these rifles?   I know there is some hate out there so if there is something else I should consider with a similar barrel length etc, I'm all ears.

I'd buy one locally so I could really look it over good.

I've had one for two years. Shoots and runs well.  No QC issues.

As per the other post I'd look a local one over, as I would with any manufacturers firearm, if possible.
