I was told 2-3 weeks I’ll do a write up on them when all my amp arms and adapters come in.

Surprised unity tactical didn’t come up with this first.

I sent AXL a DM on instagram and was told the pre-orders should* ship before Black Friday. So heres to hoping. I got my pre-order in, ordered my Team Wendy rail adapter from Unity, and am now just anxiously awaiting my RAC arms and AXL adapters to get everything thrown together.

What’s your initial impressions of the adapters durability Wise? What material are they made of looks like carbon fiber?

Yeah looks like it.  If so should be durable.

Honestly just did a test fit on my head, didn’t really put them through the paces - but I’m just a hobbyist, not a real life operator. They seem sturdy, I also have AXL adapters for my plate carrier to run a Haley chest rig and they’re also sturdy.

No, they’re not true CF from what I can tell. They come flat and they bend to allow for install. I don’t think real CF would bend/flex like that. I could be wrong though.

Carbon fiber bends, its how they get it to form to the mold. Its the epoxy that hardens to makenit keep its shape.

I'm not sure what AXL uses exactly. But it could easily be a kind of carbon fiber weave blended with another fabric to keep it from falling apart.

Per an article about the material AXL uses:

"There is a long scientific name, but everyone just calls it "carbon fiber-like material." It's a Thermoplastic Composite. It has about 70% of the strength of carbon fiber composite. And we can sew into it; same material Crye uses in their products. They are the ones that told us what to use."

Anyone preorder the comtac ones?
Have they shipped yet or is there a hold up getting the boom mic sorted?

Some have definitely shipped. I have a set that hasn’t shipped yet and a week ago their IG contact said they were wrapping up prototypes on the boom post adapter. I’m happy to wait for that.

I saw somewhere on here that you can't use the microphone set up on comtacs with these.  Is that true or am I just retarded and can't read?

They are working on a solution for mounting the mic

AXL RAC Link Install Instructions

**Does not support microphone mounting on Peltor COMTAC 3/5 at this time**

This is interesting. I will likely be looking for a new helmet come spring. I've been trying to decide between high cut and mid cut ach pattern helmets. I really like the idea of the extra coverage of the mid cut versus the high cut but comms/ear pro mounting is a consideration. Would these allow mounting on a mid cut helmet?
