There was a business called Crawford County Armory (Lake View, Iowa) that made conversions for the M1 Garand to take magazines.

I've tried their phone and email, but no luck.

Does anyone know if they are still around in some form or another?

Thanks!

G.

Go with a BM59 or contact Shuffs...

Be kind of cool if there was a conversion that used BAR magazines.

there is...but reliability sucks as the BAR mag isn't a great choice for that...

Shuff's does a great job; close to $1K when finished.

The kit from Crawford County Armory used to retail for about $175.

There are videos on YouTube about installing it (takes about 10 minutes).

Big difference.

they didn't use BAR mags ..they used their own proprietary mags.  And no news from their website...so I guess it wasn't that great of a product.

Not if it doesn't work 'cause it's junk. Focus, dude.

I've got a mag-fed .308/7.62 Mini-G from Shuff's.  It runs flawlessly and accuracy is great. I use Checkmate & S.A. mags to feed it. No issues.

When you're talking about spending hard coin and looking for where to spend it, the rule is simple:  buy right once and cry not at all.

It's pretty easy to convert a Garand to take M14 mags but it costs about $700 . . .

STEP ONE: Sell Garand for $700
STEP TWO: Buy Springfield M1A1 for $1400.

The BM59 is a much better rifle.

One of the coolest features of the Garand is the enbloc and “ping!!!” Why add a detachable mag? Why you wanna neuter your rifle? You must be one of those guys who crops his dog’s tail too...

Hey hey now...

If you own a German Shorthair pointer and hunt with the dog you got to doc the tail or they bleed really bad.  The tail will become infected. Why they are doc'd

Regards to the rifle.. i love the ping but each to there own..

What is a "M1A1"?

It's that last "1" that is confusing.

If Shuff goes into your rifle, you'll pay for it, but the rifle WILL come back working great.

It’s Springfield Armory’s designation for their semi-auto civilian M14.

Having a Garand, M1A, and BM59, I've got to agree, Love the BM59 the best.  Kits are priced unbelievably low for great condition parts.  Mags not cheap but offset by the parts kit price.

Real Beretta parts kits for $400 - How do you not buy it?  What do a comparable Garand or M1A kits go for?

M1A is SA, Inc's designation for their semi-auto M14.  An M1A1 is an M1 carbine with a folding stock.

Schuff's can fix you up with either a M14 or BM59 mag feed system.  The BM59 mags are a work of art compared to the M14 mags.
