I see there is a company called DLASK that makes short (12.5”) barrels that are threaded.

Any other suggestions on barrels?

Thank you

Not a barrel, but make your 10/22 into a 26 1/2 “ inch rifle without the stamp.

If you ever want to use a suppressor and keep bulk pack .22 subsonic then a 4.5” barrel is recommended.

Green Mountain, Federson, Beyer, and Whistle Pig all have aftermarket barrels that can come threaded. AGP Arms also has some options.

The 8” Ruger Charger pistol is a good way to try out the concept gradually, if you can find one in stock.

Kidd makes short barrels but they are bull and heavy.  The 8" Ruger charger bbl is a great choice, but given the prices on ebay, you are better off just buying the complete gun for low $300.   Complete gun also comes with a stock that a rail adapter on end that is a good start for a stock.  A shame that getting a barrel threaded almost costs as much as a new barrel.

I have a few I was going to play with but opted for a takedown tac sol. No regrets. It just eats and spits anything well. Don’t spend more money trying to save money on anything Nfa

What's the 2nd mag for? Looks weird with 2 mags in the gun.

If you’re going with a threaded barrel, I assume you’re planning to shoot suppressed. With a 12.5” barrel and a can, you could do the same thing with a TacSol SBX barrel and avoid the SBR.

Not that I would discourage you from SBRing your rifle. I’ve had a shorty 10/22 for a couple decades, and it’s still loads of fun to shoot. I’ve had it set up various different ways over the years. Suppressed with a folder and a shorty barrel is a nice compact package.

As noted, 4.5” seems to be the optimal barrel length to keep bulk pack ammo subsonic. 4” won’t always cycle reliably without a can, and 5” goes supersonic.

YMMV

I went the TacSol SBX option with a TacSol Ascent on it. Love it.

I have a 10/22 SBR with a Kidd barrel, suppressed, upgraded bolt and trigger.  Nothing truly over the top expensive.

It’s a great rifle, ultimately it’s a one hit wonder.

An SBR AR15 with a quality upper is better (IMO).  My Nordic upper shoot the same and I can use my SBR AR15 receiver with it.

What really kills it for me.  I always shoot rimfire suppressed.  It gets dirty and needs to be cleaned often.  To clean the 10/22 correctly (completely) you need to remove the bolt.  To remove the bolt the receiver must also be removed from the stock.

You already know how easy it is with the AR15.

If weight is a concern, I’m sure the 10/22 can be made lighter.
