I'm going to be loading for a PTR-91. I assume 150gr FMJs will be good to go but I want to load some soft point ammo too for hunting/water jugs/steel plate use as well.

Does anyone have first hand experience with the PTR-91?

Does it cycle soft point bullets ok?

I'll be using either 150 or 165 grain soft points.

Thanks, Motor

BTW: Midway USA has some what I think are great deals on Speer .308" bullets. I got 165gr BTSP for $19.99/100 The 130HPs are much less.

I would load the 150 gr. soft points to match to load of 147 gr. NATO. Maybe back the charge that the NATO round uses a bit then work up for accuracy.

I believe I have loaded some of the Hornady 150gr soft points and ran them through my SAR-8 with no problems.
I think they were on sale somewhere which is why I bought them.

Just looked and the product number is 3031.
I wouldn't hesitate to shoot them again but the FMJ's are generally cheaper and you get a boat tail.

Thanks for the replies. The Speer 165gr BTSP were a bargain I couldn't pass up. They got excellent reviews too both for accuracy and performance on game. I'm going to give them a try.
