Was looking for cheap bulk 223 bullets for range use. All I can find at my lgs are these 223 55gn fmj-bt made by lightning ammo. Everything else is higher end Sierra & Hornady for twice the cost.

Did a quick search but didn't find much info. Only 1 YT review that wasn't very good but didn't include any load info either.

Don't know, I've never used them. But for range plinking stuff and slapping steel, should be just fine.

FMJ's suck as far as accuracy is concerned. Short range practice and it won't matter.

Buying Hornady 6000 bullet boxes is the way to go. Even with the higher price nowadays, you know you are getting a good bullet at a reasonable price. Hornady FMJ's are usually capable of <2 moa.

Some Hornady 2266 might fit your use case well. Can be had for around 10 cents each, available in boxes of up to 6000 if you need that many. Fairly accurate, cheap, and good quality/consistency.

Here's one source, but many stores sell these.

A 6000-pack

Do not waste your money.
Hornady 55gr and 62gr FMJ's are the ones to get.
Unless you find a stash of some IMI made 22 55gr FMJ's

All the rest are junk!

This ^^^

The Hornady 55 SP has become my "bulk" bullet of choice.  It is more accurate than their FMJ in all my 5.56 and 223 guns and expands at velocities well below 2k.  That expansion makes it viable for  more than just target shooting and banging steel, speaking of which the SP seems a little easier on the AR500
