Purchased the rifle off of ARFCOM back in 2015...paid $6K. Another $900 for the Leupold and another $2K for the can. I'd sent an e-mail to KAC seeking some kind of provenance on this and was told it was manufactured one month after the 9/11 attacks. The longest range at my local gun range (DRPC in NC) is only 300 yards, it doesn't get taken out all that often...doing so would be akin to owning a McLaren and only driving it around your cul-de-sac.

There is a dimpled in stock at The 14.5 uses the midlength gas which I think is correct???  14.5 mid-length barrel |

Edit: accidentally hit reply instead of quote, this was in response to RedFox1911 I've been eye balling that barrel and just sending it with a mid length, but I'm gonna see if I can get an intermediate gas barrel made to be more clone. Part of me wants to just say screw it and get close enough though! |

Edit: in response to gaston4 (forgot to hit quote instead of just reply) Yeah, I could do a 16in, but would still have to shave down a gas block like they were originally, the 14.5 uses a low pro BR gas block from what I can tell, which I have in the works. The KAC GBs were drilled and pinned, until the Mod 2 system at least. I'll have to find them, but I even have a couple pics of some rails that were drilled so they could install the the rail and then drive the pins in on the barrel under the rail. |

Armalite rifle gas length is a bit longer (I don’t recall the exact dimension, I’ve been out of the game for a while) than the DPMS/knights/ar15 rifle length. Another clue is count the holes in the sr25 Larue’s. Yours is the same length as the old Larue AR10 rail, but you got the correct DPMS barrel nut and the locking tab to fit. I am stuck having to build my own as the Armalite tab-recover fit is different just like the barrel nut. An old mk11 rail nut can be modified to fit the Larue. I have had a similar project to yours going for many years, to clone the 16” version you have pictured. The last piece of the puzzle for me is the barrel, which I had planned to have made with the armalite gas length so that the sr25 gas block protrudes properly. I am not on social media, but I am glad to see some additional photos of the 16” gun. Thank you for those. |

I ended up doing the same thing with an Armalite rail and having to have a barrel nut and locking tab made, found a great shop to do it if you still need those |

Definitely doesn't hold a candle to many rifles in this thread, but it's the best I could do while staying reasonable with the budget. I was fortunate enough to snag one of the recently dropped URXII handguards and that set the rest of the build into motion. The rest is pretty much SR25 Cartel, Centurion and Griffin. Attached File |
