Is that a bad angle to get razor sharp should I go shallower! It is an EDC to cut strapping rope and the like. TIA I cut my angle with a coarse stone and follow with a diamond fine. My final stone is a sapphire white. Doing that gets me razor sharp with no problem. I strop on a old belt impressed with black polishing compound. |

Make sure the rod and rock is flat.

I am having a hard time picking the correct angle. What is the trick?
I have also read about a micro grind. Any thoughts on that? From what I have read, create bevel at a 20* angle then sharpen at a steeper angle like 25*. Thanks! |

Go shallower. 25* is for chopping stuff, but you might have to go in steps with coarser grits first and transition to a more medium grit and less steep angle. Chris |
