Germany has various variations of the Kampfmesser (combat knife) 2000 issued for various units over the years. https://german-knife-shop.com/product/eickhorn-km-2000-bw-german-army-combat-knife/ Versions with a spear point are also available and have been issued iirc. It's the only knife I've ever seen him carry or use other than during deer season. Just a couple of years ago he was alone ice fishing and for some reason set it down on the ice. When he got home he'd realized he didn't have it and remembered setting it down. He drove back to the lake the next morning, walked out on the ice and found it next to the iced over hole he'd fished the previous day. He loves that knife. |

That stopped a few years ago bc nobody was actually using it and they’re expensive. The Yarborough is a well made knife, but it’s HUGE. if you compare it to something like the Seal Knife 2000 is REALLY heavy. And a bit unwieldy. It would probably actually get used if the blade was an inch or two shorter. I’ve also been issued Gerber 06 Auto (not a fixed blade but I opened countless MREs with it) Jumpmaster Knife |

I have a knife I accquired through a trade in Iraq with a member our sister UK unit, 40 Commando. I think a spare rain poncho and spare Esbit stove with a box of heat tabs facilitated that trade. Since we moved last year, it is *somewhere* in the garage, and I should probably find it. It is large, and a choppping knife for sure. It's exceedingly heavy and I have used it cutting line in the bush, and it excels at splitting kindling for fires solely based on it's weight. When I was on the book of faces, a member of that unit told me it was an arctic survival knife. It looks kind of this one here, but is in much rougher shape.
Attached File Etsy Link I'd love to have it cleaned up and professionally sharpened lest I screw it up. Its a cool memento of that tour, and I want to hang onto it. |
