Just picked up a Kershaw Launch 6 from the Kershaw guy for $105.
I thought it was a pretty good price for an Auto and I liked the Grey color so I decided to give it a try. My edc knife was a Kershaw Leek. It has treated me well so I stayed with the brand. I was looking at Benchmade, ZT, and others but I stayed loyal for now. So far it seems well made. The ergonomics feel good in my hand and it is actually light for its size. When looking, I read some reviews that said it didn’t lock at times but so far so good. Some pics to show the knife and a comparison to the Leek. Good looking knife. Also, just FYI, ZT is the same company as Kershaw.

I'd like to know the circumstances where a Launch doesn't lock.....I have tried every scenario I can think of and it finishes the lock on its own. Also been carrying mine for a year and have never cleaned it or blew it out. Maybe I got lucky.

Nice looking knife. Have you tried the Link yet?
I have a couple with1776 BLK steel that I carry as my support side knife. Its outstanding.

My pocket carry is a leek as well, and just love the shape of that blade. Hence blade is easy to keep razor sharp(although not the strongest blade steel to hold a edge long term), its blade tip is strong from the shape of the blade, and seconds as scalpel for fine work like when you need to dig a splinter out. Plus that fact that Walmart sells them for$50 in all black, own a few for back up knifes as well.
So if you like the leek and its smaller size, but want a knife that is full automatic with a good blade shape for all purpose surgical use, then look at something like the Protech Newport. 
Truth is, I think where Kershaw really screwed up, is with so many of use carrying a leek due its blade shape, its lightness, and it fitting well in the pocket, they should have just offered the leek blade design in a full auto knive as well. |
