Hey all, was hoping for a little help on this one. On page 112 about 2/3 down @genofromreno has a post on KAC 95222 with some solid pictures. I came across this one recently and all the dimensions sure look spot on, so does the quality and of course the other signs such as helicoil, clamp, etc. This one however doesn’t have a KAC marking but I have to imagine it’s real. Have seen unmarked 99051’s etc. Any thoughts from anyone? If it’s a knockoff lmk and I’ll remove this post/pics to preserve the integrity of this thread. Thanks! Tested with 55gr and IMI 77gr. She shoots well even with a LPVO. Added a hand guard wrap. Also tried out a PA red dot. Prob needs a nicer dot but it worked well. Attached File Attached File |

Thanks David I'm sure there is a measurable difference, but they sound pretty similar to me and absolutely require ear pro. I like little cans too, they serve a purpose, albeit limited. For me, they are right at home on a 16" gun where I appreciate some suppression and blast mitigation without making the rifle unwieldy with a full size can. SBR's get the full size cans. |

Not going to lie im sure I’ll have a RAS 5(/ URX 5 or whatever it’s going to be called) or two in the mix before too long. I just wish KAC would have come up with something a little more elegant. Edit: I just looked at the KAC rail thread and learned that’s a super rare drippy contract had guard. I thought it was the next production iteration. That makes it cool regardless of the looks. Carry on. |

Over the last several months @CDTotty and I have been trying to complete our BR builds, you can see his progress in post #18 on page 37, I do not have any pictures of mine yet. The biggest hold up for both of us has been the gas block, trying to find one has been impossible, let alone two. Due to this I have decided to make my own. Unfortunately, I only have these pictures and other KAC gas blocks to reference for designing my own. If anyone has a real one they are willing to lend me, shoot me a pm, hopefully we can work something out. Anyway, I had two functional prototypes made, I have one and @CDTotty has one. They are made from 4140 steel with a black nitride finish, they also have the KAC shoulder to gas port length so they will only work with SR-25 pattern barrels. If there is enough interest for me to have more made I am willing to coordinate a large order. Lastly, since I do not wish to upset KAC, I have tried to make mine different from the originals by adding flats where you can use taper pins, 10-32 set screw holes spaced .400" apart, and using a black nitride finish instead of black oxide. All subtle differences so they look like they belong but shouldn't be confused for real KAC products. Reference rifles w/ gas blocks:   Reproduction gas block:

 Just replaced the stock, optic mount, and finally got another QD Atlas so I don’t have to switch them all the time. First Reptilia mount, and seems to be extremely high quality. Will throw on an ROF as soon as I make up my mind on which dot I’m going to do. Old:  Still love LaRue, but really like integral 12 o’clock mounts. |

 Was looking through some of my old photos and came across this. I'm not even going to begin to try and see if any picture I've ever posted on this site still shows given the fact that 95% of them were all hosted from Photobook which I gave up on 10+ years ago. ETA: Maybe Circa 2010-2011ish and only one I don't have any longer is the Magpul one although I have definitely added a few more variants in it's place. |
