So I found a 20” ban era knights barrel that is new/old stock.  Bayonet lug was shaved off and the birdcage flash hider is a pressed on shroud.  The muzzle is flush with the tip of the birdcage.  I got excited when it arrived so I mocked it all up with the KAC parts I have sitting around.  Now I’m hoping to run across a RAS 2 Long at a decent price!    I have a Mod 2 marked reciever on the way to swap out the CQB marked receiver.  Debating just pressing the flash hider back or have it cut and threaded so I can use my Surefire RC2 on it.

Has anyone messed with this barrels?

Cool.  I have not messed with the older barrels but I am familiar with them.   I have an older Vero Beach Lower that I built up with LMT parts and a RAS II back in the early 2000s so I know the feeling.  I bet there is someone out there that could fix the fake flash hider when you get tired of the fake.  I see complete rifles up for sale every now and again I think about grabbing one for a project  but I kinda got bit by the SR25 bug so that other concepts are getting shelved.

Yeah we had a few in the shop I worked at.  We had a ton of Mod 1 and Mod 2 Variants but I liked the look of the early KMC SR-15’s.   I did find a SR-15 lower for this upper.  Think it looks pretty good!

I have a 14.5” with the pressed on flash hider. I sent it to Dave Wilson. He shave off the flash hider and put threads on it for me.

I’ll probably end up doing that but right now I’m liking the way everything looks!
