Hello, I bought a 2A1 a few months ago. Only issue with the rifle is when I shoot it, the magazine catch does not hold the magazine in and its starts to drop out. I was curious if anyone knows of a gunsmith who knows his way around Enfield's and variants of course. the magazine latch seems like it has lots of spring pressure, but obviously not enough under recoil.

Are you able to pull the magazine free by hand without depressing the release?  Any pics if the spine of the magazine?

I had the same issue with mine, the magazine had a lot of wear on the mating surface so I had one of the guys at work weld a blob of metal on the mag itself and used files to shape it properly.
I did fine a NIW magazine and the original was demoted to backup status.

ETA - I assume that the magazine was removed and installed a lo, the rifle was beat on the exterior up but internals were clean.

I have one of these rifles as well, if you need me to take pictures of my magazine or something send me a message.

Seems like finding any mags for these are rare and expensive.

I got a new Lee Enfield magazine latch. Need to see if it’s the same size.

Looks to be an aftermarket mag.

Well, looking at the magazine closer. Looked like there was a worn spot that did not allow the latch to fully engage the magazine catch. I flattened the magazine catch out. I will go out on Friday and test fire it, see if that made a difference.

Also thanks for the link. I will try that next if this does not work.

Is your rifle refinished?
Doesn't look like the black enamel paint I usually see on these.
Wood looks good too.

I assume it’s refinished. It’s blued not paint like you normally see. Yes very nice wood as well.

Found a factory 10 round mag. Not the 12 like it should have, but better than the POS that was on it. Took it out and tried it, ran perfectly. Not a single issue.
