Similar to running a MUNS/PVS27 in front of a scope. Clip on mode doesn’t use a reticle. You use the x y screen adjustments to align with your scope. This ^ To add… when using thermal clip-ons, the day scope is no longer looking at your objective/target at all. It is looking at a digital screen which is only a representation of the target. That screen needs to show an accurate and aligned representation of the target relative to the day optic. Thus, a separate zero process is required using the thermal’s margin adjustments. |

Finally made an EOtech setup instead of just in front of the 1-8 ATACR. Got the FTS but haven’t modified the pictail yet. Going to be sweet I think. Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Really gives the perfect amount of space Although it might be a tight fit with the Eotech battery compartment & Oasys mount. It looks positioned a little closer as opposed to the ADM mount. Hope it works out |

I dig it. |

Definitely on that one pallette! Which do you prefer most Frenchie? Reread Nich Chens decent article and at the end he claimed that it didn't return to his preferred Black Hot when turn back on. Once I set mine it defaults to it each time I turn it on & off as a saved setting. Are you going Dual Thermals now? Attached File |

I’m definitely still a white hot fan. Non illuminated Black crosshairs stand out better on white targets and I’m mainly using as a clip-on Mine always defaults back to white hot. It doesn’t save anything except for stuff like wifi, and the resolution settings Illumination will stand out on white or black though. Black definitely looks good in certain scenarios Attached File Attached File |

I use it almost every weekend so I can get you some good feedback. |

I’ve been following this thread from the launch of the RH25 but I still have not picked one up. I really want to bridge this device with a 14 and use it as a clip on but I feel like the RH25 is lacking. 1. When you change the margins on the screen to make your brain give you a fused nv thermal image it loses it clip on zero. You can only choose one or the other. 2. When it on helmet mode it chops the edges of the screen giving you a circular picture aka less FOV. 3. The overall form factor of it make it hard to bridge. 4. In clip on mode it is only recoil rated for 5.56 meaning the majority of us who use larger calibers like 308 for hunts are SOL 5. The rolling shutter issue. Some say it’s been fixed. Some say it hasn’t. What’s interesting is most of these issues could probably be fixed with a firmware update. If they made a V2 they could do an external redesign, making it taller instead of wider, making much easier to bridge. Hopefully someone from Iray sees this. What does the hive think? Am I looking at this wrong? |

Am I looking at this wrong? #2: actually in helmet mode it’s a square screen with a complete FOV and reduced in size for a true 1x (best way I can explain it). The only time it’s a circular image is in handheld or stand alone mode which is like 1.5x or something. As far as getting it skinny for bridging they should just add a couple thread holes on the side for dovetail mounts like the MH25 so it can be flipped 90 degrees. They would have to account for that in the software also of course. Rolling shutter is what it is: slow. They haven’t fixed it at all, and I saw no difference before/after their firmware update. It does take away from how much I like helmet mounting it, but ultimately it’s not enough to keep me from using it. The people that should be most disappointed are those who bought two to bridge in hopes of walking around with them. That wiggle in the image every time you move your head would be a deal breaker for bino RHs. The unit is absolutely worth the money as-is even with its issues. That’s not some type of bias on my part as a owner, I’m very critical of the stuff I use (such as my very negative comments on the MH25 having owned it already). |

Moving the pictail to the skinny side would be a perfect work around for the width issue when bridging it. I read on Snipers Hide people had issues with large POI shift when using it in clip on mode and Iray saying that it was to be expected and within normal limits. The users hypothesize this problem is resulting from a misshapen lens. That does also worry me. For me this unit would be a HMT and clip on. I guess I could but it on 300 Blk but I really would want to put it on an AR10. Still the issue about having to choose between the HMT margin adjustment or a clip on zero remains a big issue for me as well. It would be such an easy fix! |

Wouldn't that be repeatable, so you'd just have to adjust the unit to zero when you clipped it on to the rifle? |

| I talked to the InfiRay product manager who also oversees the RH25 today at the IWA show in Germany. He said there is a new 2023 version of the RH25 software that (supposedly) fixes the issues in helmet mode. He promised to send me the file via email. I will give him some time to get back to the office before contacting him again about these issues. |

I will give him some time to get back to the office before contacting him again about these issues. Great news if true. The 3-4 week email interaction I had with a few IrayUSA customer service reps last year wasn’t positive in terms of the software “fix” at that time. They essentially told me each week that it was an easily remedied software update issue and that it was only going to take a few days for the engineers in China to get back to them. That turned into a month long back and forth email thing with them that was never actually resolved. Their update (that I did at their direction) bricked two of my units along with several other people who reached out to me on different forums. What they eventually figured out is that the software was already installed and that by double installing the software it would cause issues. The moral of that story is that the software update they initially released to supposedly help the rolling shutter speed didn’t actually do anything in the first place. Double installing it caused a bunch of issues though. Working with people overseas even on simple stuff in my experience is fraught with issues due to language barrier and designers that don’t even use the product they sell. I can only imagine the issues between IrayUSA and Infiray in China. This is a big downfall of not buying US products that can be fixed immediately by people here in the states. |

From the SH thread: Some have it… some dont (or at least not bad enough to notice). Mine seems to be one of the more affected. A couple pages back I put it on 3 rifles and got about a 6MOA shift on each at the limits of focus range for shooting at hand warmers. I called iRay and spoke to a couple people and they consider this “expected”. Given that some people have the issue and some don’t, the issue is likely a non perfect objective lens mounting (focus ring pitch axis not collinear with optical axis) stemming manufacturing or design inconsistency issue. When the focus ring is turned and the lens spins the focal point is wandering on the sensor array. It is repeatable so a focus lever or scope cap can be used to mitigate the shift and the depth of field is big enough that targets well away from the focal plane are not too bad at all with it… so it’s more of a minor functional issue… but you’re right, a 6k optic with such a rudimentary issue is a bit offputting. But I can live with it for the price difference this thing has vs something else that’s an effective 1X 640px MHT/WMT/Clipon. |

I heard back from the InfiRay employee I met at IWA and he did in fact provide me with an updated firmware. Please be aware that I have not tested this so far, everything you try with your device is strictly at your own risk! Several people on the Sniper's Hide forum are reporting that this new firmware fixes the rolling shutter effects seen previously. Unfortunately this firmware should only be used on the international version of the device called PFN640+ The system now has a low latency mode that can be entered the following way: First step: Enter helmet mode or clip on mode. Second step: In helmet mode or clip on mode, short press power button, you can enter the low latency mode. In the low latency mode, menu functions is disabled. If you want to operate menu, short press power button again, everything will be normal. Update: according to InfiRay, a similar update specifically for the RH25 will soon be available via iRay USA. |

Very interesting. You guys get the black version - correct? Fortunately, I havnt experienced any tech issues like other have, then again I'm not out using it as often as most. It was a gift. |

Are you running it with the reticle on the thermal I’m guessing? Out of curiosity why? Why not use it as a clip on if the RH is in the FTS? ETA: I haven’t had any issues with the FTS since I’m using my day time optic as the sighting system and not the thermal. |
| I don’t have one. I’m considering buying one for clip on use but have seen some people recommend against using it with the Wilcox FTS mount. At least to only use that mount for the QD feature but not to ever flip it to the side because it isn’t a truly collimated thermal. If I get one, the FTS mount seems really useful so I’m trying to determine whether it is feasible before hunting down a used Wilcox SkeetIR FTS mount. If the flip to side feature causes problems with POI shift then I’ll just buy the ADM mount instead. |
|
If you plan to run a FTS with the EOtech I’m getting rid of the Kenu riser since I went back to a T-2 if interested. It’s in the EE Attached File |

True to an extent but you also have Flir with the Breach still eff'ing up all these years and they never seemed to fix/change/upgrade anything on the damn unit. |

I haven’t put a bunch of rounds through my RH25 & Wilcox FTS yet but I am having a hard time understanding why there would be any significant zero shift. The RH25 ocular is set for your day scope, and then the screen is shifted to match your day reticle (which is saved). The Wilcox mount locks up very tight in all aspects of fitment with itself and the RH25 dovetail. I’m expecting this to be perfectly fine for hitting man sized targets at medium range, not bench shooting. |

If so can you please pm me a link to where you bought it? I would be forever grateful. I need a spare. And I’m glad to hear your prototype is coming along. RCS from HRF concepts came in today. Lock up is very tight and super happy with it. Seems like a great option for faster transitions between thermal versus normal optic. Definitely plan to pick up another FTS for my other setup to easily run between a magnified optic and red dot with magnifier. If anyone is looking for an ADM mount and pictail let me know.
