I have a few small stainless items that are gold titanium nitride coated.  I would much rather they be plain silver stainless steel.

Like soaking in vinegar can remove parkerizing, is there an effective and safe way to remove the nitride at home?  I read that soaking in hydrogen peroxide will loosen it but I am unsure what it would do to the stainless underneath.

Only way I know is media blasting. Is stainless that would be fine or polish out, if steel they will need coating of some sort.

It entails hot hydrogen peroxide, not something you want to DIY.

Also, a warm solution of nitric acid works.

Again, not really a DIY process. Send it out OP.
