Just curious, seems a bit nutty. Honestly this is just for a budget blaster. I'd use the 22lr stuff at in door ranges when it's crowded so I don't run everyone off lmao.
I'm going to make a 5" 5.56 Pistol because MURICA. Interestingly enough the twist rate is 1:5 If I decide to throw a 22lr conversion in it, how bad would it be? Did I mess something up?  Attached File |

Velocity would be down because of the extreme twist rate, the bullet would probably come apart in flight due to the extreme RPM; instead of 1500 fps HV round going maybe 1200 fps would be spinning 1200*(12/5)*60 = 172,800 rpm.

That sounds kinda nuts. Still some what curious. So either way it's going to be a fancy noise maker whether it's 5.56 or 22lr.  If I do make something that short. I should get the KAK for a little more $ since it's at least 1:7 |

I once tested a 1:5 twist barrel on an AR using 77s and 80s. It was WAY too many RPMs.

I have a 1:8 twist AR that I run a 22 conversion kit and it shoots better than I expected

I'd probably try the Aguila SSS 60 grain ammo if you do end up doing it.
