Saw this on facebook and was wondering if anyone saw a notification that the Hellion now can only fire .223 chambering.
Their website still says 5.56x45 NATO (223.Rem)

I figure this is just a Stamp change. Maybe to make sure the imported stuff doesn't cost them too many points.

What say you?

I don’t know..

but Colt is in a similar situation with  a 6920 made for the EU market.. the barrel is marked .223 but some me included think it’s just a way to comply with the stupid EU law.. I find it hard to believe that Colt would make a special barrel just for us in EU.. much easier to just mark it 223.. and won’t generate any dangerous situation.
A guy on the Colt board is going to test his barrel with a 556 gauge.

Would be interesting if someone could do the same with the VHS…

Any barrel coming out of the EU that is for a rifle ... is marked .223 or .308 vs their NATO designation ... even if its chambered in 5.56 ...

Its a 5.56 ... that said most have been marked 5,56 MATO 1/7 that I’ve seen. Maybe early batches got the military blanks …

No. It’s just a BS import thing. Steyr has done it for years

You act as though there is a difference between cartridges that would somehow make it improper to stamp a barrel with .223 Rem. Other than internet mythology.

Not a myth … to help get passed European bureaucracy strings … maaaany barrels are marked .223 vs 5.56 … depending on the level of bureaucracy at hand …

Why civilian rifles in Europe are marketed as .223 platforms vs 556Nato. It’s dumb. It’s wording. But true.
