I have narrowed down my selection of plate carriers. The two that I have chosen fit my budget and my needs. I'm just unsure of what one I should go with. I know the one that I am leaning towards but my gut says to go the other way. I thought I would ask you guys and get your opinion. I also found some coupons and got these both down in price that will allow me to add money to my plate fund.

One of the features I like about this PC is that it has a pocket on the upper chest. I can use that and have a couple of small items out of the way and not take up any other space. I also like that the reason it is open at the top is for different plates. it allows room for bigger plates and different cut of plates.

Grey Ghost Gear -

I love this one. Its a minimalist carrier and something I never thought I would lean towards like I am now. My mind set used to be as a prepper/survivalist. Its a flawed thinking. At least that is now my opinion. I found a coupon code for Optics Planet that gives me $9.00 buck's off the sale price of $99.99. They had the carrier listed at $89.99 just days before. I got them to give me that price and use my coupon to give me a total with tax and shipping of $85.28. I feel that is a great deal but I wanted to get some real world advice before I pull the trigger on it.

LAPG Atlast -

I have been watching videos on this plate carrier as well. I found one that opened my eyes on this one a bit more. The cummerbund can come off, allowing the user to only use the strap. It brings it down to a more minimalist plate carrier. Maybe not as much as the Grey Ghost Gear one, but it also gives me options. I can scale it down or scale it up depending on needs.  I like options but are options in PC just adding to me wanting to add gear and weight to something I shouldn't be? I guess that is a question some experienced users can answers better than me. I am new to PC's. I have only used chest rigs.

The price on the Atlast is $79.99. I found a coupon code that is $12.00 and with shipping and tax I am at $80.58. The coupoon is gomez15.

So, with that bit of information, tell me what one you would choose and why? The one that I am leaning towards is the Grey Ghost Gear Minimalist.

Have you ever used a Plate Carrier that has two Fastex buckles (one each side)? I find them "fiddly" AF - not a fan.

Buckles on shoulders are an ass pain.

Personally, and while I mostly wear LAPG pants/shorts. Hecho en China.  If I have no other choice, fine.  I'll grant that the workmanship on their products that I own  has been stellar.

Thank you for the links! I will save those and check them out. I did order the LAPG Atlas last night. Once I get in some courses and see how the PC works and what I like and don't like I will move up to something more expensive. This is a learning experience and I'm going to enjoy it too.

I prefer the buckles on each side.  Leaving only one side fastened allows you to put on the carrier really quickly and either secure the loose side, or immediately begin moving about with only one side fastened (albeit with a little wobbling).  If we're talking about wearing the carrier for long periods of time without quick on/off, I could see where someone wouldn't like the buckles though.
