Found this one at a local shop. It retains nearly all of the original case colors and bluing. Tenite furniture is beautiful
Would this be 1942?

I was looking at a USAF marked one in very good condition at my local shop. It was an interesting piece but I wound up buying something else.

The bores are bright and shiny. Rifle bore has strong rifling. I don’t believe this gun has been used or fired much at all

I’ve heard 1938-49. I cannot locate any advertisements earlier than 1940 which advertised it as being “New”

I have that exact rifle also, except mines missing the front sight.

Nice classic rifle.

My Dad was in the Army at the end of WW II and was with first Troops to occupy Japan.  After he got out of the Army he never wanted to be around guns.  A Friend of ours took my Brother and I shooting.  One of the first guns I ever shot was a 22 LR over .410.   I’ve looked for one of the rifle over shotguns but never found one to buy.   The 22 WMR over 20 gauge would really be versatile.   I think they made a 38/357 over 12 gauge but I think it uses a larger receiver.

Thanks for posting OP brings back some good memories!

The Issue is usually not that they get shot out, but rather rusted out in storage.
Left for decades in some gun case in a forgotten back closet or basement.

That looks really nice!  Great squirrel getter!

I have my grandfather's Savage 24B .22WMR over 20 gauge and can confirm its usefulness as a yard cleanup varmint getter.

Sweet. I’ve got one that was passed down to me from my father in law. Not quite as nice as yours. It was his first gun when he was a kid.

My "memories of my youth" grail gun..... Unfortunately ....of the dozens I've found over the last 20 years...most look like they were dragged behind a tractor for most of their life.
