A quick search didn’t yield an answer….

What is the model of a shockwave?  590 or shockwave?  Receiver says 590, but the damn paperwork and mossberg calls it a shockwave.  


Want to hopefully get this “right” and avoid a disapproval…..

You want to use what's on the receiver.

Food for thought… wait a couple weeks and see how the brace thing pans out.  Word is that braces guns are going to get graced into being MFA items and they’ll be giving out free stamps if you submit true form of your gun in brace configuration.

After it’s approved as an SBS, just throw a real stick on it.

Thats what I figured, but wanted to ask anyway.

If it doesn't say that on the receiver you are risking getting your form denied and having to start over from scratch.

In the Proposed Rule, ATF said that braces were not designed to be fired from one hand (it's their stupid definitaion of a pistol which they keep harping on, and using to drive what they want, like no forward grip (gasp!) on a pistol), and so should not have braces on them to begin with.

So, unlikely in the Final Rule that there would be a tax free NFA registration of them.

Wording from the Proposed Rule follows"

These criteria and worksheet do not
apply to firearms with a smooth bore
that use shotgun ammunition. These
types of firearms, commonly referred to
as ‘‘pistol grip shotguns,’’ were never
designed to be fired from one hand (e.g.,
Mossberg Shockwave, Remington Tac-14). ATF has always classified these
weapons as GCA ‘‘firearms,’’ not
shotguns or pistols, as they do not
incorporate a stock, like a shotgun, and
are not designed to be fired from one
hand, like a pistol. Thus, the addition of
a ‘‘stabilizing brace’’ does not assist
with single-handed firing, but rather
redesigns the firearm to provide surface
area for firing from the shoulder.

Mine just says "590M" but mine is a magazine fed model.

Mine was approved with "590".

I went with plain ole 590 since thats what is stamped on the receiver.
