The factory aluminum FN mag that came with it fits way to snugly, to the point of almost not being able to insert and almost impossible to remove. Pmags have the same issue. Anyone else ran into this? I very rarely run mags in it, but a range I sometimes go to has weird rules and links and steel cased ammo. HK 416/SA80 mags fit and run perfectly btw, not a single hiccup or lip damage. |

Never had an issue with usgi mag fitment in many 249s. But, if you want more mags, hkparts has windowed hk magpuls for $9. |

When they were issued, the mags would not seat properly. They were never intended to run with a mag. You don't see an M14 mag well on an M60, do you? Congress, comprised of half-wits, shit heads, cunts, and fools, decreed that the M249 must run a STANAG mag before they would sign off on the acquisition. FN complied, but not well. In order to run that mag, you insert it, then use your left hand to cant it forward juuust sooo, then it might feed. The necessity for a mag run SAW in combat has come up exactly zero times since the M249 was adopted. Get you some M27 links, and run that puppy like the Belgians meant it to. |

Being a semi SAW helps with that. |
