MAC did a nice video on the FNC today. Too bad they are so rare.

One of my frail guns is an Ak5C clone. However at 20k for a class 3 and 6k for a semi FNC, it's gonna be a long way off.

Yeah. Can't cry over the ones we have missed. Still sucks to think about them.

I would love to have one but they are nearly impossible to find and when you do the seller wants you to supply unicorn blood and your soul on top of a pile of Benjamins.

I'd like one for my collection as well.
I think it's weak that FN didn't include an auto bolt hold-open.

Why do I never see post sample FNCs? Maybe they didn't sell many. LAPD Robbery/Homicide must've been the only buyer.

I put away a couple FNC's very long ago. Both semi.

One of the less common fixed stock models, minty. And, a folder having been ceracoated green, and engraved with the name of the original owner, a member of the 82nd Airborne. Bought the folder from a friend of his father's. Have no idea of the provenance.

Semi-auto, fixed stock, FNC on gunbroker now starting at $4,600. 10 days left in the auction. (not affiliated at all, simply searched)

Look like a cool rifle that had bad timing.  I'd love to get a real deal AK-5.

Spooky

Don't buy that unless you don't mind spending about $1200 too much.  Gunbroker is for dreamers. Case in point- the full auto FNC for $20k that's been for sale for months.

MAC’s review was great and I’d love to pick one up as well.

I lusted after a para FNC when I saw one of the guys shooting our local 3 gun match with it, 20 years ago.  Unobtanium with my past and present check book .  Same for a real Galil.

Yea, but I don't want an Ak5c to replace my M4/ARs.  I want it for the same reason I bought a G36 or an AUG. Sometimes it's nice to have a little strange to play with on the side.

I'll always pick up an AR for serious stuff. I'm a civi though, so short of maybe home defense the most serious use I'll ever see is a 2 gun match.

Hey, no offense taken brother! I know you were just messing with KitBuilder.

I also know you, and while I'm pretty sure you wouldn't recognize me, we've crossed paths at least once or twice in the past. You're a well respected member around here and I value your opinion and experience. So, it's all good dude.

He wasn't so much messing with me, as he was pointing out the FNC's flaws, and he's right.
There are "rare birds" which are both better and less expensive, like the Daewoo K2 for example.

I like having examples of different designs also. Range days are more interesting that way.

I love my FNC.  Waited too long to pick up a sear.  Should have purchased one years ago.  Don't think I'll ever convert it now.

I could had brought one FN FNC full size model for 1200 in 91. Bad move on my part.

Wound up with a 16" FNC para later on.

If I had know that the full size was more rarer, I should had pulled the trigger on that one.

full size may be rarer but it sells for less than a folder everytime...

Does anyone know what gun Al Pacino used in Heat?

Just watched most of the video.  MAC says there is no place to lock the bolt back hmm...  I haven't messed with my FNC in years but I recall pulling the bolt back to where the bolt handle is midpoint under the protection shield or whatever it is called and then you pull the handle out a little bit.   I'll have to take my FNC out of the safe and shoot it this summer.

My NFA dealer has a semi-auto one AND a transferrable FA one.

But that's just a safety position right?
Or is the bolt far enough back to chamber a round if released from that point?

The bolt hold open notch is far enough back to allow a round to be chambered.  The bolt hold open lock notch is probably probably within a 1/4" of where the bolt carrier bottoms out.

There is the corresponding "dimple" in the upper receiver sheet metal below where the locking "notch" is located the top side of the bolt handle travel slot.  The dimple is there so that the bolt handle can be pulled out maybe a 1/16th to 1/8th of an inch and engage the upper notch and hold the bolt back.

With the bolt locked back  and a mag in the gun you can hit the bolt handle with the palm of your offhand, somewhat reminiscent to the HK "slap" to let the bolt run forward and charge the gun.

I don't ever use the feature as the charging handle on the FNC always seems like a weak design point to me given how thin it gets, so I use it to gently charge the gun and nothing more.

I have a thing for 70s and 80s military style rifles and the FN FNC was always on my list, but I never pulled the trigger until last month when I finally purchased one...  After missing a fixed stock version of the rifle for $3,500.00...  I ended up spending $4,900.00 for a folding stock version.

I'm still feeling the need to call the rape crisis hotline after paying that amount, but they're not getting any cheaper and only going up each year that I've been looking at them... Should have jumped on one I was looking at back in mid 2000s for $2,500.00!!
