Why did Eotech discontinue these holographic sights? Low demand, did they suck?

As an EOTech fan, I've been trying to get my hands on one for a long time. Information about them seems more scarce than the units themselves. My understanding is they never went past T&E so I imagine the military decided their advantages came at too steep a cost - either $$ or affecting the usability of their host weapon. Matbock DID get a contract for a different type of 40mm sight though so definitely a space that had room for something.
EOTech never sold the M40GL to the general public - it was truly "military and law enforcement use only." |
