That gray LC looks sweet.

I need to finish up my new home chore list and start working on this : )

If the math still checks out - I guess an LC can be built as an SBR without a Form 1? (if you meet the qualifications for plaintiffs on the recent decision for NFA)

Sometimes I wake up and think its just all a dream - Nothing this good ever happens for gun owners

Hardest part is the front sight base.  You will need a press as there’s some sort of funny business going on.  Almost like it’s spot welded to the barrel somehow.  Short of this you can build one of these with hammers and punches including barrel removal and install.

You got any better/more video/pics of how you had it setup in the press to remove it?

And do you have a  video on how to put the sight block back on? I'm assuming it fits OK even though you broke the weld or whatever?

Wanted to get another black CETME L but all I could find for the price was the gray. Now that I have the surplus stock installed I think the gray looks better with the worn finish on the stock. Thought I’d eventually want to refinish the stock but totally unnecessary.

It’s a bit of solder and no issues going back on.   Used a tube setup from my AK building stuff.

Not really,  pulled the pin and pushed it out like pulling barrel stubs from AK stuff.  We didn’t even need to use the press to get the barrel or front sights back on.

I’m not really a parts kit guy but I thought this was a cool looking rifle. Got the kit today and it looks in great shape. What are my next steps? Buy a receiver? Then register it sbr? Then find someone to finish it? Would that same person modify the trigger pack for semi auto?
I don't know how this works, but I nominate Joker and Fluffy for arfcom sainthood.

If you're wanting a Marcomar you better get on it like a rat on a chetto. Might be talking out my butt, but it seems like everytime a owner get sick etc. the company closes or goes to crap.

Got my parts kit today, its in pretty good shape other than the front sight post, might be salvageable but will probably need to replace it. It looks extremely similar to a M16 post but I am guessing its not compatible.

Handguard has no cracks thankfully, some scratches but not terrible. Collapsing stock shows a bit of worn away finish which is to be expected. Going to cerakote it all black anyways to match the black receiver.

@kells81

Can you post a better picture how you pressed out the front sight tower? How the front sight tower is supported? I tried to press mine out today but there is not enough material to support it so I stopped, afraid of bending my barrel.

This place always cost me money.  I already own two Marcolmar CETME LC rifles.  One in black with rails and one in green with rails, but I had to buy a couple of these.  Its really unfortunate that Marcolmar is shutting down ops.  I would love to send one in to be built out as an SBR.  Hopefully CF gets more completed receivers.  Now I need to find one or two of those VZ61 kits.  If anyone knows where I can buy a couple shoot me a msg.

That's why I asked a couple of posts back, that or damaging the tower with putting too much force on a small area. Wonder if heating it up some would help. Thinking of making some kind of clamshell to wrap around it with wood.

Maybe we can just send them to kells81

Does anyone know if we can just remove material from the standard trigger group to fit the marcomar receiver?

Also, I emailed them today and they said they were going to be making black furniture to go with the black receivers. Mine came with the grayish furniture so I'll probably just leave it.

I'm guessing they just randomly build kits with whatever is on hand.

This guy has a decent post on converting them. Seems like the HMG guns had a different auto denial in the receiver that required less material to be removed as seen in the InRangeTV build series.

I wonder if this 3D print would work for removing the front sight. I think thats what its for? It only says CETME L press tooling

I suspect these are all Century Arms Imported kits - Centerfire, Apex are essentially retailers of Century imports and products.

They are what I would categorize as Very Good+ surplus and probably all very similar.  Some finish wear and tear but mechanically sound with some individual exceptions.  Bores are generally nice when cleaned.  If you build probably would benefit from an overall refinish/painting.

On another gunboard they had a screen cap of Dave saying he just delivered some, but there will be a huge increase in price because he messed up cost on the last ones.

Soo, short answer is "soon"?

Doesn't sound like centerfire actually produces anything

He actually said they havent ran flats in 2 years, and he ordered some blanks from a steel company and they are out, but searching to fill the order. Once they come in they will fire the press back up. The thread I have going in General Firearms Discussion I posted the first part of what he said is coming in next week, and no flats are on that list.

This receiver’s from CF did seem like a pretty great deal.
I had decided to go a different route myself with the LC kit I bought so I didn’t buy one when they were available figuring let the people who were ready to build have them, I’d buy one later.
Now I wish I’d bought one, kind of knew the price was too good to last.
Hopefully price ain’t too much higher 🤞

Guys, flats are coming.  I hadn't run flats in 2+ years... our stamper had no steel in our specs and had to find it.  It is backordered at the plants due to mechanical issues with their roller.  As soon as the steel arrives we will be rough lasering and running the 600t press as fast as we can.  The good news is that is a quick process.  Watch here for updates.

I think it's different. Makes it sound like he dropped off more "new old stock". And he's having to wait to make more do to materials supply.

I picked up a pre welded already but tempted to do another build with one of these and make a "modernized" build, chop the front sight tower, weld a full length rail, RS Regulate handguard, figure out how to flare the magwell a bit, have a barrel re-threaded 1/2x28, etc.

Its a U.S. part for the 922r and fits their weldment setup. I got one, also they reduced the selector size on the earlier ones, not sure on these. I was going to build my own if these didnt pop up for sale.

If you scroll down about halfway of the page you will see where they show how Marcolmar did theirs. They taped the coarse threads to fine threads and used an AR15 style front sight so it is more adjustable. https://www.ar15.com/forums/general/MarColMar-CETME-LC-Carbine-In-Detail/5-2295039/

"The original front sight blade with its coarse threads was removed and a new one with finer threads was manufactured by MCM.  Consequently, the sight tower was rethreaded.  Additionally, the sight was also redesigned so that the adjustment detent indexes with notches cut into the base.  This means the four holes in the sight base are only there for fitment of an adjustment tool (it's designed for an AR-15 tool but a bullet tip works just fine too) and have nothing to do with locking the sight in place."

I see a lot of mention about 922(r). Since 922(r) does not apply to SBRs, and now it looks like we may be able to build SBRs because of this recent court ruling, do we still need to worry about 922(r) if we build an LC?

He says 922r does not apply to SBRs 10 min mark to 11 min mark. Just seems like Ian would know the law since he is who he is. Also before he tells millions of followers he has a non compliant 922r SBR, seems like he would know for sure.

Really dont want to derail this thread with 922r chat but I will share my thoughts, which are in no way saying you should do the same or is legal advice.

Yes the common legal interpenetration is 922r does not apply to Form 1 SBR's but this is not settled legal fact.

also

NO one has EVER been convicted let alone even charged solely with a 922r violation. It has only ever been used as an additional charge in cases where there are MUCH more severe charges.

So ill just keep on keepin on not worrying about 922r as long as I am not otherwise committing heinous felonies

ATF has specifically stated (years ago) that Form 1 SBRs are subject to 922(r) parts counts. This reversed their prior interpretation (from even more years prior).

But the reality is...
NO one has EVER been convicted let alone even charged solely with a 922r violation. It has only ever been used as an additional charge in cases where there are MUCH more severe charges.

So ill just keep on keepin on not worrying about 922r as long as I am not otherwise committing heinous felonies
So I persoanlly wouldn't worry about 922(r) either, even if additionally committing much more heinous felonies.

Also, IMHO when you modify foreign parts (like that grip housing) you are using them as raw material to create a new U.S. part, and that's how some manufacturers view the process.
In the end it's merely academic if never tested in the legal system.

An FYI you can reuse the trigger housing by doing a HMG style blocker. Thats what im gonna do on my 9 L & LC builds. (Ive built 4 in the last 10 years)  plus im not paying $150 for their trigger housing. You can use the MCM mag weldment and cut it so the top leg will fit the original trigger housing after you cut away the top where the sear trip is.  The HMG kits came with a long bar you welded in the flat before you bent it.

9/13/2026 12:15:27 AM EDT
[Last Edit: Shane733][Edited] [#49]
Katzma, have you actually cut a weldment yet? I took some card stock and mocked it up. I was just looking to see how much I needed to cut and how much would be left over. Looks like it is going to work like a charm. Even if you cut some of the L part off, just having it sticking up past the trigger pack blocks the sear trip from working. I bet that is enough to satisfy the ATF for the average home builder. Better to leave the L part but just saying.

9/13/2026 7:36:06 AM EDT
[#50]
Yes. Just need to trim it so the trigger housing fits and the leg extends over the top where the sear trip would be. You could also weld on a leg extension like the HMGs long blocker. Plug weld it from the outside
