I'd like to build an A1 type, triangle handguard, retro type that is sort of a sleeper "boomer" at the range.

Anyone know of a big bore barrel that has a FSB - even if I have to use a clamp/set screw type.

I'm running out of ideas, if you can't tell.  I don't want to stop building stuff - but building the same thing over and over is getting stale.

so no is the answer

How does KAK make a .458 with a .750 gas block then?  Are you saying it is that thin at that point - or with the pins it would be that thin?

If I'm not using a pin type FSB - If I use a set screw type...  Maybe it would be possible?

Is there any real reason I shouldn't be able to use a barrel like this - a set screw FSB - A triangle end cap, etc?

Maybe I'll do a dissipator...   That way the FSB is up front, with set screw, for show and to hold the handguard - with a hidden low pro gas block further back...

Hmmm...

Yup.

Or - I guess you could tap the vertical hole up through under the sling point and put one in there on an undrilled one.

I think that's what I'm going to do.  Dissy type A1 rig.

I'll let you know how it works out.

I guess the answer is, no one makes one - so I'm going to try.

Me too.  I love the way they look.

Here's a couple of retro looking ones I built.

I'm planning on another A1, triangle handguard type for the .450.

I used the RRA entry A2 stock on these - I love the length.  I'm a nose to charging handle kind of guy - so that compact design really works for me.

This is an older pic, as the bottom one now has a Rambo type  Lone Star forend.

Awesome!

That's what I'm talking about.

Did you tap the gas hole in the FSB and secure the triangle handguard cap to it with a bolt, or is it just pinched up there between the FSB and the handguards?

Cool.  Thanks.  That's what I was thinking.  You don't happen to remember the size you used?

Pretty sure I had to take it to 1/4 20, because a 3/16 tap wouldn’t bite.

I swapped the trigger guard back out for a standard one.  That other one is just too big.
