I got a “surplus” M145 for my 249S as well. Haven’t used it yet. Curious how it’ll work.
Also picked up a surplus para stock & a NOS surplus para barrel… |

I've got the whole "kit" for my M249S - para barrel, regular barrel - both old and new style, all the available stock options (para, savit, regular clubfoot, new style hydraulic and even the minimi), both bipods, etc... so it made sense for me to get the M145, but I'm not convinced that it's a great option for this semi-auto belt fed. Full auto, sure - but semi-auto... ?
I wonder how accurate the M249S is. The quick-change barrel system is the antithesis of accuracy - and it's not a concern when you have a full auto squad support weapon. In fact, IIRC, the M249 is a 12 MOA weapon. Has anyone actually shot the M249S for groups at 100 yards?

Grabbed a bunch of the “nutsacks” in woodland camo, multiple barrels & stocks. The only thing I’m hunting for now is the tri-rail handguard. I’m curious about the M145 as well. It doesn’t seem like it would really be a “tack driver”. But I suppose, as you said, it’s geared more towards full auto. If the Elcan doesn’t perform well on it, I’m curious if there’s something out there that would improve it. Hopefully I’ll finally get it to the range before the end of May. If I do, I’ll report back with the results… |

Has anyone actually shot the M249S for groups at 100 yards? I havnt played with a M249S but I do have a DPM with a QD barrel. Likely a different system from the 249. It is very accurate. I ring 6" plates at 200 yards with it all day long. I've been very impressed by it so far. I'm looking forward to seeing how my UK-59 does for accuracy. |

I put a C-More on my RPD because it was as easy as drilling and tapping 2 holes in the top cover.

Admittedly, I did just buy an Elcan M134 for my M249S, but have not yet zeroed it or even put it on yet...

It's one of these: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/974267969 I got mine from a guy on the EE who had a bunch of them. Then I made a 300 round RPD belt for it It's pretty neat, you can feed right out of it slung over your shoulder.

The best optics I've found for a belt fed are the discontinued MaTech Aimpoint micro mount. They take any aimpoint micro and place it in an adjustable mount that has click dials from 100-600 (5.56) to 300-1000 (7.62)
