I have the ability to purchase a mk17 that has been properly deactivated. If I were to reactivate it under the guidance of making it into a destructive device would i have made a machine gun in the process? I can't find anywhere if that is the case considering then you would need two different designations. Either it's a machine gun or its a destructive device. Thanks for the insight.

mg/dd is both

If it's "transferrable" as an MG, reactivation as both can be achieved.

Thanks. I'll refrain from the purchase.

as as previously stated.  There is not dual registration.  If its full auto, its a machinegun.

There is no caliber restriction or barrel length restriction for a machine-gun. So it cannot be anything but a machine-gun

"deactivated" as in a registered dewat or completely demiled? If it's been demiled and removed from the registry it cannot be remade into a machine gun, it would have to be properly converted to semi auto and registered as a DD.

The few transferable Mk19s are registered as MG/DDs.
