Quick question gents
By default the colt m4a1 has the side sling mount on the left side and oriented so that it can fold all the way towards the back.
Where are you supposed to reposition it with a M203 mounted. The Right side? Still oriented so it folds towards the back?
Thanks

Are you righty or lefty?

Righty, goes left and folds to front, lefty is opposite

The military puts them on the left side, folding to the back. They can however, be moved to the right side for left handed shooters.

Wait, maybe I should have clarified. The sling mount is in the default position on the left and swiveling to the back (towards the shooter). I thought I read somewhere that when you mount a m203, you need to reposition the sling mount somewhere else because it gets in the way of the M203 release latch for loading.

I think comments like that are referring to the bottom mounted sling loop that gets covered up and is unusable when an m203 is mounted.

Milspec is on the right side when using a 203. I was a contractor working on guns for the Army and had to fix several...

Should fold forward. Side isn't specified

It's in one of the manuals

ETA pic...
the other manual I was thinking of shows it on the left side

Ha! Almost all the ones I've handled have them to the rear. I guess I've had some crqppy armorers lol.

Thanks for correcting me

They used to be mounted to the rear.  When a M203 was mounted, the sling swivel was moved to the right side.

When we started using the RAS, it was changed to have the swivel forwards.  Stays out of the way of the 203 and stays out of the way of the rails.
