If I was to do NFA engraving...  Form 1 lowers and suppressor tubes...  Would i need any type of FFL?

Would/does the BATFE define engraving as gunsmithing or repair?  Seems like a 01 would come in handy.  Your thoughts...

Engraving = gunsmithing not manufacturing.  If you do it regularly and advertise it as a business, people ship firearms to you, and you don't do anything else, then you need a Type 01 FFL.

If you're primarily a machine shop, trophy shop, jeweler, etc. and you do very occasional one-offs while the owner waits then no FFL required.

That's kind of what I was thinking.  Thanks for the response!

I am primarily a machine shop.  Just exploring ways to possibly expand my services.  (And income!   )
