I’m thinking of getting one for the M14.

Anyone have one?  Opinions?

I have one.  I like it a lot.  I put a tall target knob on it, painted it high-visibility yellow, and marked off the clicks to correspond with the drop on the rear sight, making it a bullet drop compensator.

I have one of their 2-7x variable scout scopes I run on a single shot .45-70.  That's same model was for both handguns and scout rifles.  It has an illuminated heavy duplex reticle for hunting. The rifle has a fixed receiver sight and globe front sight, so the only place to mount the scope was out on the barrel.  It's QD mounted for when I want to shoot irons.

I like the scope.  Light, bright, well made.  The fixed 2.75 should be very good, too.

Because it’s nice and compact, and dependable.

I wish it was illuminated.

Understood.  It is a good bit (6 ounces) lighter than the 2-7x Burris.  Neither is illuminated, as they must have discontinued that line.

I had one 20+ years ago with a German 3 post reticle. It was OK.

Generally I prefer the glass on Leupolds.

Unfortunately, the Leupold Scout scope has too-short eye relief.

Do you already have a scout rail for this gun?

Because I'd set it up with QD rings and a traditional mounted 2.5x or 1-4x Leupold if it were mine.

I got over the scout scope thing a long time ago.

I’ve got guns set up with all sorts of optics.

I don’t like the M1A as a platform for optics that require short eye-relief.

I have a T1 on her, now...

Since it's already set up that way give it a try. You might like it.

The negative for me was the balance out front.

Oh, I’ve had it this way for a year .  It’s great.

Thought I’d try something new.  Options...
