Lets talk battery storage on your plate carrier or chest rig. How are you carrying spare CR123 batteries on your rig?

The Condor Battery Case is alright. Can be slid into two halves, each half holding four CR123A batteries. A decent option if you're looking for something you can toss in any pouch on your rig and not worry about it. Offers some crush resistance.

I don't know if the CR123/AA Battery Holders that come with this Surefire 12pack of 123 are Condor:

How many batteries do you need to store in your fighting gear?  Put them in a waterproof container in your pack.

7 gives me a spare battery for all the batteries in my flashlight, pistol light, and rifle light if they all went out on the same night. Not likely but I don't feel like 7 Cr123 batteries in an admin pouch is unreasonable.

I have been using these for awhile now and been happy. I have one on the outside of my EDC pack which I use for traveling as well. No issues with the durability or coming open etc.

Yep for 123s and AAA.  One of each in my admin pouch.

If you run a TNVC Mohawk Mk1 you can put the batteries in there, but that will add a lot of weight to your head. I'd suggest just putting your batteries in your pack.

Thyrm Cell Vault XL
6 CR123s
put the bar through webbing and let it hang on your PC.  Open it and remove batteries with out taking it off.

So when you remove one or two batteries you have clackity clack in the tube? If you turn it can the batteies slide out and make a mess of spilled 123 cells? I don't need waterproof storage in my pack and the ability to hold each cell individually and not release if upside down and half out is why I prefer the storacell. Plus it weighs like 10x less.  But if you need externally mounted and waterproof it aint that.

There is some tension inside with 123s so they dont move around to easily.  When it is upside down, you kind of pinch the tube and the fall out.

I just buddy tape one cr123 to another so they're in pairs and keep three pairs in my GP/admin pouch.  They take up minimal space and since they're taped in pairs, they don't float around in the pouch.

I have been using this in my admin pouch for years :

Battery Case

I haven't taken it for a swim but it's held up to rain and snow. Never had a corroded batt.

The batteries do rattle sometimes but out of all the options it's a good one, I know I've had one of those for a couple of years at least.

If the rattle really bothers you, you could toss a foam ear plug in there.  I have them them scattered around in almost all of my shooting equipment.

Remember, rechargable cr123, 18650, and other similar batt tech will deteriorate quickly if stored at full charge. If your storing rechargeable, store at 40% battery level.

That. Being said, unless your using your batteries regularly,  buy Energizer. Will get up to 10 years max shelf life. 5 realisiticly with decent charge life.

They sell battery cases which work perfectly storing on your person.  I would start there.

For CR123s, why not store Surefires?  They're rebranded Panasonics, which are better batteries than Energizer.

I have 4 cr123's in a case like this. I just slip them in my kangaroo pouch. Can't reload all my equipment but enough to get most of it back up and running.

Been using these for year and crush proof and locks them in place but not difficult to get them out.
Good value and if you don't like the color you can always spray it to a color you want

They come in other colors but I think HD only carries orange.

The orange make them easier to find in the bottom of a pouch though.

I just wrap them in "cling wrap", and drop them in a pocket.

Maybe I need to be higher tech?

Use an old cigar tube that I coated the inside of with "liquid electrical tape", sprayed brown, and gorilla taped to a malice clip. Looks like shit, but I was too cheap to buy the Thyrm battery tube thing and didnt feel it was worth the hassle to try to get it shipped up here.

Works fine. :)

Yep, panasonic CR123s (and other sizes) come in bubble packs like pills.  Its what I've always been issued by military supply.

A lot more convenient than cardboard 8-packs that most batteries come in.
