I just acquired a new Barrett M82A1 that came with the cheap night force scope and barrett rings. I swapped the scope out for a Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x42.  When I took the old scope off the torque on them was 60 inch lbs! WTF?

When I installed the new NXS, I just used 22inch lbs which is around the max that night force recommends.  Is this enough for a .50?  I really don't want to over torque the rings and mess of the scope or put rings marks on it, but I also really don't want the scope to slide.

Anyone with some experience on this issue is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the link.  Now I see night force doesn't want anything higher than 25" lbs, I guess I'll give them a ring to see if it's alright to add an extra 10 more lbs

The mounting bolts for the rings to rail have been 65 in lb for a long time.
The top screws have been 35 in lb I believe.
